    5n - 2n = 10 - 7

    3n = 3

    n = 1.

    N=1

    I didn't work it the same way, but I got the same answer!

    5n

    N=1

    2(1) -7 = - 5

    5(1) -10 = - 5

    2n - 7 = 5n - 10
    2n - 2n -7 +10 = 5n -2n - 10 + 10

    3 = 3n
    3/3 = 3n/3
    1 = n    (edited 9/14)

    Daisy!

    Bob/PKB Thank You!!!

    Hi Daisy! I added the last step because it's what our mind does automatically. I did alot of substitute teaching at junior high, and when the assignments said to show every single step, that would have been included (the last step to get the "unknown" all by itself on one side of the "=" sign. Actually, the first time I worked on the problem last night, I got the wrong answer. Egg all over my face if I'd posted that! Hope your day is as cheerful as you are (you always bring a smile to my world). BobPKB
