What causes a screen to dim when starting or useing a lap top ???? Just turns a grey color and dims for about 2 mins at a time

Seems like the dimming is getting more frequent .Used to do it once in awhile now its more often ,several times each session now . Is this thing dying ???

It is likely the energy savings option. You can change these settings - but it depends on the make and model as to how this is done.
