      If you have a mortgage, she probably has a claim because payments were being made while you were married. If you owned it outright before your marriage, then a good lawyer can probably help you.

              No sweat flip, good to have ones` answer reinforced by someone with brains. Love the little dog you use. I am a dog lover from way back and the more I see here on this site the more I love dogs.

              In Australia your wife is entitled to half the assets you share that is home car superanuation bank funds after you get married. The only chance you have to change this is to get a hot shot lawyer and you may get to pay out less than half due to time of ownership by you before marriage. If you don`t own the property outright you have buckleys chance of winning ie: if you are buying not owning.

                In California married couples own assets 50/50. So she likely has a strong case.
