    two sun sticks one 2m long anf the other 5m long you place them both 1m up from the ground. Does the lenght of the sun stick affect the distance the mark moves

    Yes, basic geometry. The taller one will be casting a longer shadow to begin with. You can use the idea of similar triangles to think about it. As the sun sets, the taller shadow will get longer and longer, compared to the shorter one. But either way, the shadows and triangles will be congruent to one another.
