There is no real solution.
If you use American Express for trip
they do it per transaction at low, low fees+++whan you make
a purchase.Remember if you export items, ask for VAT form at time
of purchase and +recovery of this tax, is greater than currency exchange rate.

You can buy American Express travelers checks in most currencies
for 1%++++safety of not being pick pocket worth not carring much cash

Keep small US cash $1, $5 most place take US Easily
Also do exchanges at banks++++not air port except cab fare
maybe $100
