Cortisol levels will react to stress and fear based (anxiety) events. L-Arginine is an amino acid, which I don't think is connected to raising cortisol. Excess caffeine doesn't help with coping in stressful situations, so it could be an irritant to raising cortisol levels. (Usage of L-Lysine and L-Arginine has been used to reduce anxiety levels.)
