Wifi is wireless internet, so first check to see that iPad2 wifi connection is turned on: go to Settings > Wifi, and see if it's set to ON. If it is, when you click the Wifi icon it will start searching for available network in your area. Select one and if it prompts you for a password, type it in (a virtual keyboard should appear).
