    does anyone know what a transducer on a fishfinder does compared to one without?

    A transducer is a device that converts a physical quantity into some other type of signal eg. sound to voltage, light to current, or vice versa

    i think you have to have a tranducer no matter what type system you have .it may have a diff name but its still collecting signals
