Colleen has a great point, adaptation to environment, as well as the Biblical story of the Tower of Babel. God said to go throughout the world, be fruitful and multiply.
The people disobeyed God and started a huge city and built the tower of babel, that's where god changed their languages, possibly changing their appearances as well.
Not to mention you have a variance between siblings in the genetic pool.
