On my Chrysler Nav system it is DVD based. The system will not allow for programming while the vehicle is in motion. However, this is a software feature and it can be defeated, actually you can even modify for video dvd play as well.. Mine is set so that it can be programmed in motion but I wished it wasn't as my wife screws it up all the time..
