I have hundreds of them on my garage every fall. I hate to say this, but I kill them with a spray can of RAID or something like that. It's funny that they were here in my town when I was a kid, then I didn't see them for years, and now they've been back for the last 3 years. There is no box elder tree around here that I know of, but we did have one when and where I lived as a kid.

During spring, you may see boxelder bugs on the outside of homes. These insects are emerging from their overwintering sites and are moving away from buildings. It is unnecessary to spray these insects as they are not entering homes. Treating them does not have any impact on the number of boxelder bugs found next fall.
