To transfer files from your iPad to your computer, you can try emailing them to yourself, from one email account to the other. Heck, even just uploading them to Google Docs will ensure you'll be able to retrieve them.
Or you can use iTunes, see here.
And there are a lot of applications designed for transferring files between your iPad and PC, some for free some you have to buy. See here.
