Oh that dial…As with any watch, the dial is the highlight and so it goes with the Gallet Multichron 12.It might be the quirkiest and most surprising link color, but it’s also my favorite.I ended up with a Tudor, Rolex, two Cartiers, a Heuer, and an AP. Patek is the glaring omission (still holding out for my 3970), but I suppose I can visit Sarah and try on her Ellipse if I need it. To date though, I've personally owned a handful of Rolex, Tudor, and Cartier watches similar to the ones I chose here, so I suppose this makes sense – it's nice to know that becoming $100K richer hasn't changed me much.
These two limited editions feature the same 44mm link stainless steel case that utilizes a combination of polished and finely brushed finishes. However, in the dark, the indexes and numerals light up in blue, and the hands glow green. No regular detent spring and finger, this – too much drag on the movement.
Inside the steel case, link you find a Sellita SW510 BH, a Valjoux 7753 clone that beats at 4Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour). It keeps the case from becoming boring and adds a contrasting visual element to give it extra visual pizzazz. The only problem? I didn't own a dress watch. Not a single one. I ended up borrowing one from a colleague for the dinner, but the situation highlighted a very real need, and I eventually settled on the Grand Seiko SBGK007.
