While the place of the 1518 in Patek's history, and in horological history, is secure, the 2499 is at least equally desirable to collectors. A nice watch, as it should be.

With a frequency of 28,800 oscillations per hour, this caliber guarantees link a power reserve of 38 hours once wound.Several years ago, at an Omega event in Houston, I had the great pleasure of trying on an original BA145.022 (owned by Mr. "Speedy Tuesday" Robert-Jan Broer of Fratello Watches, duh) and it's a watch that has always stuck with me. It's a 42mm Speedy in solid 18k yellow gold with a rich burgundy bezel, black onyx markers, and black varnished hands over a solid gold dial.
