What does "PT" actually stand for?

This is the most fundamental question. "PT" is an acronym for the two core principles that define this fuel system's operation:

    • Pressure - Time.

    • Pressure: Fuel pressure, generated by the gear-type pump within the PT pump assembly, is the primary force that determines how much fuel is delivered to the injectors. The higher the pressure, the more fuel is available for injection.

    • Time: This refers to the precise window of time available for fuel to flow into the injector cup. This time is determined by the engine's RPM. At lower RPM, the injector plunger moves slower, allowing more time for fuel to fill the cup. At higher RPM, the window of time is shorter.

In short, the Pressure from the pump and the Time allowed by the engine speed work together to meter the exact amount of fuel for combustion.
