I’m wearing my IWC Ingenieur AMG Chronograph for an IWC even today – at the time of link purchase, I thought the polished applied markers on the dark dial were incredible, and gave the watch a very nice three-dimensional pop.The links have a comfortable oval shape from the side and feature a brushed and polished finish.I have a confession to make. For too long, I have been falling prey to the idea that 40mm is the sweet-spot watch size. After spending a week with the Chronomaster Original, everything is different. I am firmly in the 38mm camp now. Much of that is bolstered by the classic case proportions that harken back to the original A386, as well as the relative thinness of 12.6mm.It was a Carrera-filled afternoon, but when it was all over, I said goodbye to both Jimmy and the watch, knowing I probably wouldn't run into Mr. Butler anytime soon, but maybe the Tourbillon Polychrome and I will reunite in the future. Not only is the LVRR-01 Chronographe à Sonnerie a horological masterpiece, but the watch also incorporates stylistic details from both its collaborators.This is a Calendomatic, which as its name would suggest is equipped with a date complication, adding functionality. And that's why I think this model merges the best of what the new Rado is great at, experimenting with colors and materials, and what the Rado of the '60s was trying to accomplish with the original Captain Cook. In short, it's arrived right at the sweet spot.
