      I guess you are aware that avocados are trees not little bushes like tomatoes or capsicums?

        Take the avacado pit (seed?) and insert 3 toothpicks in the middle and with the broad end down suspend in a glass of water ... it will "split", grow roots and a couple leaves will come out on top .. that's when I plant in soil.

          Also...you can peel the outer layer of the pit to hasten this process and be sure to keep the water level up and it doesn't hurt to change the water frequently as it will get rank

          Next time you do buy a avacado you can use the seed if you let it dry out and plant it in the spring time although it will take some time to mature or you can buy a young plant from the nursery .
