Never heard of Bunnings here but l understand their parent company owned Homebase, whose store closed down in my town 2 years ago, simple answer to this lies in CHINA, sell cheap s..t for a good profit, or sell cheap s..t for a meagre profit, at the end of the day cheap s..t is cheap s..t, in the UK at the moment things are all cheap s..t selling for expensive prices because of the uncertainty of BREXIT, it's only gonna get worse unfortunately, and it ain't gonna be cheap.

In Aussie Roy,bunnings sells cheaper than most hardware stores,it is kinda like,a home handyman would buy a cheap Ozito drill, and that would be fine, but a professional would buy a makita or bosch drill..i have an battery operated Ozito blower, and the battery also fits my ozito drill, and i will soon be getting a Ozito hedge trimmer that will fit the same battery..so for me it is a good fit..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

We have a B&Q here in our town and it's not far from where we live.   It's the same as a Home Depot or Lowe's in the USA.  Obviously, if Roy has not heard of Bunnings her then I haven't either. :))

If it's a big box chain, I'm surprised that one of their other stores doesn't simply cover the costs of the lower profit store, until they get on their feet. I'm pretty sure that that's what Home Depot, Lowes, etc. does here. Not all stores are equal in profitability, nor can they ever expect to be. Some just 'maintain' in order to keep a profile in the city.

After two years, it seems premature and anxious, especially considering projections.

Bunnings is owned by Wesfarmers Bob.And westfarmers have bought too many companys for too much, and they are all under a lot of pressure,,coles and woolies had 80% of the market, then in came Auldi and Costco,,so coles is not losing money, just less profits..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..https://www.choice.com.au/shopping/everyday-shopping/supermarkets/articles/accessible-text-files/supermarket-market-share

@Terry, many companies are jumping the good ship UK because we are leaving the European Union, only time will tell if I made the right decision.

@ ROY,times are gonna be a bit tougher for you guys Mate..but at least you can steer your own ship..that has gotta be worth something..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

Bunnings. Hmmm. Never heard of it but reading the comments has explained what CB wrote. Home Depot or Lowes. HD is where we bought our present backyard, ie: tools, materials, plants and goop. My yard would be bare without them with the exception of my worm hotel (but without foliage what’s the point?). So, your post, ter, is about a potential closing or something? Sorry, it’s late so I made neither hide nor hair of it.....
