OK, I’ve started my gardens indoors. What pieces of knowledge or advice can y’all offer on the following?

Sugar Cane, I’ve 35 plants already emerging. Dwarf bananas? Fan Palms (sounded like fun), peanuts and sugar beets. And of course the cotton is going in....

You've started a garden indoors, Julie?   Gee, how big is the inside of David's house?  Small indoors gardens seem okay, but sugar Cane can grow as high as thirteen feet, dwarf bananas can grow up to ten feet and I know it takes a lot of cotton plants to make much of anything from them.  Fan Palms are known to grow approx 100 feet tall.

Perhaps you mean that you are starting the plants inside the house and when spring hits you will plant them outdoors to continue growing.

The only advice I have to offer is don't overdo it. A little will go a long way with all the large plants you' re growing

I wish I had a third of your green thumb.  Good luck to you and the garden, Julie.  Keep us posted.

4x4 card table, two hanging full spectrum lights. 12 pack egg crates cut and placed in the lid. Hole in the bottom of where the egg would sit. The lid catches the water. That’s where all the sugar cane is growing. The only blank containers are the climbing spinach, the dwarf bananas, and the fan palms. The latter making cool gifts.... once I get the cane in the ground it’s just a matter of watering. Unless someone from down under advices me different...

Absolutely wonderful! Only I’m growing from seed. Can’t be that hard or different. Don’t have a machete, I’ve got and ax though. I’ve got the perfect spot, too. It gets full sun and has room to grow. This is going to be fun! Thank you!

I worked on a cane field when i was a young fella JH,and i never seen cane planted by seed,it was always pre-burn cane cut into 1 foot lengths,,so for seed planting you might have to look around a bit more, when cutting cane,we always cut on an angle level with the ground, that way it forces the following years crop to grow straight up,if you leave a stump above ground, you end up with what we call brumby cane,as the cane may grow level with the ground,,making it harder to harvest,,it was hard enough cutting by hand back then, nowadays mechanical harvesters cannot cut brumby cane..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

Angle, level with the ground. Got it. Does this mean cutting at a slant? Or pushing the cane over? I’m missing something and only have nine months to get it right! I knew somebody from down under would come to my rescue! Thank you!

Level with the ground at a slant, just enough to make the first shoot grow straight towards the sun..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..
