The current passport requirements for a Mexican cruise state that, effective in 2009, all citizens of the United States must present a valid U.S. passport book, the new U.S. passport card or another WHTI-compliant document to enter the United States. However, people who are traveling from the United States on closed-loop cruises, which are cruises that begin and end at the same U.S. port, are not required to present a passport to immigration officials.
