Born on October 18, 1926, in St. Louis, Missouri, Chuck Berry had early exposure to music at school and church. As a teen, he was sent to prison for three years for armed robbery. He began producing hits in the 1950s, including 1958's "Johnny B. Goode," and had his first No. 1 hit in 1972 with "My Ding-a-Ling."

I think ole Willie won't be with us much longer. He's cancelled several concerts recently and I've read he's near deaths door. He's one of only a few country music legends still with us.

No reason why you can not post the obit. Go ahead if you wish.

John Lennon said that if "Rock and Roll" had a different name, it would have been "Chuck Berry".

    RIP, and thanks for everything!!!!!

I've been reading up on him today, Apparently, he was a very naughty boy. He set up video cameras in the women's bathroom of a restaurant he owned and got caught. He settled out of court.

Well CB! That sucks to hear! I can not for the life of me figure out why some one wants to watch someone in the bathroom! The exception is making sure your pet does his thing!

He did a variety of similar things during his life including taking pictures in various states of undress with girls young enough to be his granddaughters. That is why I did not and cannot make any comment about his death.

Wow, Ducky! I did not know this!

I remember being very disappointed when that hit the news. I had always loved Chuck Berry. :((

Same feeling I had when I found out about Bill Cosby.

Yes but slightly different. Chuck Berry never 'pretended' to be a fine upstanding citizen. Cosby used to speak to groups of people about being respectful to women. Phhhttttt......

My better half was upset about Chuck Berry's death. Saying that because my father knew him it produced sad feelings. I was born in St. Louis, MO and so was my dad. He went to school with Chuck Berry. He told us, kids use to pick on Chuck Berry because he carried his guitar all the time.  My dad who was a big, strong football player at Sumner High, use to walk with and kind of protect him from bullies.  Years later my dad and mom went to see him perform at Circle Star Theatre, in San Carlos, CA. They talked with him back stage. Chuck asked my dad, "Where have you been all these years?" Dad said they had a nice and warm chat. My dad died 3 years ago. They were both born in 1926. Depending on what you believe, they might get to say hi again.
