I grew up in a very rough neighbourhood where kids beat up other kids on a regular basis. My instinct was FLIGHT. Because of this I ended up on the track and field team as I could run really fast and, for extended periods of time. This skill came in very handy while playing softball as an adult basically because I could go from 'zero to run' unbelievably efficiently.
Now, it is funny, but as a kid it was necessity.
