When you were a kid did you have a tree house? What is your favorite tree house memory?

My brother had a tree house built for him when we lived in the Texas hill country.   I had a slumber party for my 13th birthday and we girls took possession of my brother's tree house.  We had a blast!

I should have also mentioned dollhouse/playhouse as an option.

Oh my goodness, no. My dad was a freak about us getting hurt and we'd never have had a treehouse.  MY kids, however, had a play structure that we made for them, which included a fenced area VERY high up, which seemed to sway in a gentle breeze.  I was always in fear of someone falling off, or the whole thing tumbling down,  My dad had a "portable office" built for my nephew on my parents' property, which WAS moved to our property, so my sons DID have a playhouse, which was pretty cool.
    Gee, I miss those times.

I like the swaying in the gentle breeze.

This thing should NOT have swayed, trust me.

No, no tree house or a cubby house. A tree house was my favorite thing to draw as a kid.

Ha! I know what a cubby hole is but I had to look up a picture of cubby house.

....didn't have one. My dad set up a tent in the backyard.

....slept in it on many occasions. Enjoyed looking at the stars.

    A tent with no roof?

Sleeping in a tent and looking at the stars when we were kids is as much fun when we are adults. You should consider surprising Mrs. There by setting up a tent in your back yard this spring. Spontaneous and romantic. :)

James again. He built completely by hand a two story tree house that I wish I could post a picture of here. Complete with stairs and wood slats. Quite the beauty……..

It sounds like a place where I would like to hang out as an adult.

This is what he created it for. From the top one can actually view the UT tower!

My sister and I sort of did.  My mother cut down every single tree on our property while we were small as for some inexplicable reason she dislikes trees with a passion as she does gardening of any kind, plants in general and basically anything other than concrete.

Soooo, my sister and I built a house and put the darned thing on wheels.  We painted it, named it Penelope and the rest was disaterous and hilarious at exactly the same time.

My dad destroyed it within a few days as my sister and I basically risked our lives with the things we attempted to do with Penelope after construction.

We then began an experiment called, "The human kite".

Brent A. kissed my sister after she flew off the garage for the very first time and that kiss ended all of the building and inventing stuff.

He beat me up because he liked my sister which was the really confusing part of that particular summer.

LOL....The two of you sound like a bunch of hoots. Your sister and you must have kept your parents on their toes. Cherished memories!

My parents were always very ticked off at us. They let us loose and then we created. It was pretty loony. I remember my father muttering to himself, "Why did I teach them how to use tools?"
I told him last week that I had bought a chainsaw and I could tell he stopped breathing on the phone. He then asked me if it was gas or electric. I told him it was gas and he stopped talking all together.

Ha ha ... it was hilarious.

I informed him that it was the smallest one I could find.

My mother was in the store when I purchased it. The event didn't phase her at all. :D
