I used to sketch and paint quite a lot when I was younger, mainly buildings and landscapes, never did it for years, maybe one day I'll get back to it.

I'm not an artist, well maybe stick figures. We really didn't know my mom was till after she died, we found a few of her paintings in the attic. She was not to bad.

Mecaquartz? Gasp. How can Nivada, a link newly minted revival of a quartz-crisis casualty, dare use anything that even resembles quartz in one of its watches? This must be link a misprint. It isn't. What we have is a 36mm, relatively thin, vintage remix of a Valjoux-powered chronograph of old. Only link now it uses a movement that's partly mechanical, and partly battery-powered.

Finally, the under CHF 2,000 category. This one's such a matter of personal taste that it's hard to make a pick. James' week on the wrist convinced me of the appeal of link Seiko's new dive-GMT, but among the other link nominees, Studio Underd0g stands out for continuing to make watches so much fun, while Kurono still link manages to bring concepts from independent watchmaking to much lower price points.
