Do you like spicy foods can you handle it?

I made spicy chili last night and while I added extra spices to mine, Roy was dripping sweat. How do you handle spicy foods?

Oh, I used to be a real pepper belly, even had my own favorite brand of jalapenos. But I'm ageing and my tongue seems to have become so sensitive that I cannot tolerate strong drink! Sad, isn't it? And nachos were always my favorite dinner.....   Oh, I like the fruit flavored Tums.....

I'm like you Julie. Growing up in Texas we are used to spicy foods but at the age of 49 my mouth can still take it but not my stomach.

Dang. I was leaving our ages out of it... I just made TEXAS TRASH! With bacon grease instead of all butter....

    Oh that sounds so good!

It is. Crunchy, slightly salty, and full of the kind of nuts that have no peanuts.....

I like spicy foods, but not ones that simply sear my mouth, char my esophagus, and ignite my stomach.   How do I handle spicy food?    With TUMS.....I like the mint ones better than the fruit flavored ones.

I don't like foods which sear my mouth either but what I think is borderline causes Roy grief. I haven't had Tums in a few years, some of them are like Flintstone vitamins to a kid. LOL

Not for me. I've never liked food that was so hot you can't really taste any flavor.

A family trait, I agree totally.

Things do run in families and spicy foods do make me run.

I wrote my comment before I saw Roy's comment to you. WOW! I'm out of tu's so I'll catch you on the flipside. :).

    :) Telepathy.

I love garlic; otherwise, I hate anything spicy from a taste standpoint. If I have a nasty cold however, spicy food helps tremendously and taste takes a "backseat".

We love garlic too. Do you like pickled garlic? Yummy!

Still do. But I  like flavor not just the searing hot as mentioned here a few times. Tabasco is still one of my favorites I also like the new chewable antacids.

Do you put Tabasco on your eggs Dave? Any odd food items you like to put Tabasco on like popcorn or ice cream etc?
    JDB

Yes I put it on eggs in soups pasta things meat things. Never thought about popcorn. Usually we make it in coconut oil, melt some to drizzle on top then put light salt and pepper. We also have a spicy dry rub for meat that I like to shake on instead of salt and pepper.

Yeah bob I think the alka-seltzer ones are the best. They're a lot better than the old Chalkie pills

I'll look for them, JDB. Dr. recommended deglycerized licorice to chew before a meal to help stave off the heartburn. It does help; mine is chocolate flavored.
