    Do strokes hurt much?

I'm not asking David, that would be opening a can of worms.....

I had a  subarachnoid haemorrhage 26 years ago, this is an extremely serious type of stroke, I didn't feel a thing at the time and apart from a wee bit nausea and a sore neck there was no pain before I suffered a total collapse. I consider myself very lucky and I couldn't thank all the medical staff who cared for me in the months afterwards enough, of course I am only speaking from my experience but I do know a few others who suffered similarly and they all have different stories, but none of them ever tell of "pain".

I had the same thing on 12/11/01 Roy. Mine was painful, it felt like a tight clamp on the back of my head, I was sick and muddled, but stayed conscious . luckily for me the paramedics gave me oxygene quickly and got me to hospital. I didn't have to have an operation in the end, apparently it was a rotten blood vessel which just burst and sealed itself up , I do have a aneurysm , but they said it was too small to operate on , the consultant said I should be OK for about 20 years thats 14 and counting.

Yes Dave, I had the op, left a bit of a dent on my temple but I can live with that, still don't drive though, they took my license not long after I had it, never had a problem since I suffered it but I have to take the test again if I want it back, I've got a provisional, I can also live with that, f&%k taking the test again, anyway, the insurance would be more than any car I could buy, every persons experience of these things is different, good to hear everything is still fine with you though, you've got a lot more than six years left in you.

My father had a stroke and said that he didn't know he had had one. He just suddenly lost use of his arm and hand, after "feeling a little funny". Then, he was told that it was a stroke.

I hope neither I nor anyone here ever answers that question from first-hand experience.

My wife had a minor stroke and she went numb down the left side, she is okay now, however she has atrial fibrillation,so she is on blood thinners.that will help with strokes..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

My father had a minor one yesterday. Not much pain, just became confused and disoriented.
