I've been to funerals with open casket or viewings I should say and in nursing school we were made to go look at some poor guy who didn't go out easy. That's it, no war or accidents, gun shot or suicide. I think I'm rare at 57, what about you?

Yes.1st of July this year I sat with a dying friend and his family at the hospital until he took his last breath.Diagnosed with lung cancer only 6 weeks before he died. The cancer ravaged his body in such a short time. One of the tumors was the size of a tennis ball protruding from his chest. Something I would not like to witness ever again.

Yes I sat with my mother when she died, and also with my Father-in law. On both of those occasions it was very peaceful at the end , and I was able to see that they both had something relieving and peaceful happen to them at the end. I also came across a motor cyclist who had gone into the back of a stationary lorry about 15 years ago, that played on my mind for a long time, I could see his face every time I closed my eyes, he was a young man with a wife and family, it made me feel very sad for a long time.

Both my Mother and Father, i had to I.D. my father at the coroner's office because he died at his home, and my mother at the Funeral Directors, she made me promise for a number of years to prick her big toe to make sure she was dead, i contacted the undertaker, he told me not to worry as he has requests often similar to mine, so i honoured my Mothers Wishes.

i've seen before death arrived. the night my dad died at kaiser hospital. we 3 kids and mom were up to visit. went back by myself an hour later to talk to dad about being resuscitated if he had a heart attack. he said they resuscitate everybody. he was a funny man like archie bunker from the tv show. well the main point is he told me to get him a pillow for under his head, and he told me he was so tired. "i'm so tired." i told him he could get some rest because everybody's gone and i'm getting ready to leave. he had not touched his dinner. i asked him did he want it, if not i'll take it home and eat later. he said take the soup and everything. he wasn't eating anything. the next morning he was dead. he actually died from a blood clot in right leg and kaiser amputated that leg. a week later he asked my mother why they cut off his leg. my mom told him and he said, "well they took off the wrong leg." i told you he was funny. but he was serious. and to top it off he developed a clot in the left leg and they were trying to figure out what to do, they, the kaiser doctor's cause they did not know if at 87 he could take another amputation. i think my dad gave up and decided to leave the planet. he was a wonderful, beautiful, gifted, intelligent, funny, dedicated and strong man. the greatest man i have seen on or off tv.

I was with my mom, holding her hand, when she died, so peacefully, I barely noticed her breathing had stopped. I have, of course, been to several funerals, and had to take some much loved pets to be euthanized. I literally sobbed on those occasions. :(
