"If I were an alien..." I would hide-out, appear as human as possible and avoid speaking until I learned the language. Near Roswell New Mexico in the '40's after the alien ship crashed there, there were quite a few folk who showed-up as deft-mutes traveling anywhere but there. The government said 4 were caught but later denied it all and considering the size of the space-ship it was more likely that there were hundreds of passengers or much more....the government claimed nothing happened and that it was a weather balloon.
