Does anyone have a recipe for chicken hearts and gizzards ?

I'm not too crazy about the gizzards, but they came with the hearts. When I was little, my mom would get a fresh chicken at the chicken store, and even pluck the pin feathers, take out the gizzards and hearts, etc   and boil it in the deep well cooker. My brother and I fought over the heart b/c  was sssooo good. So, should I fry them or boil them or what ? What   should I fry them with and side dishes?

Wash thoroughly, pat dry, dredge in seasoned flour, poor oil into a pan about a quarter of an inch deep, heat it to almost smoking, then toss the guts out the back door.......

Ha ha. Thks. Sounds good ! I was hoping you'd show up, b/c you said your mom taught you a lot about cooking.
What would you have for side dishes ?

Gizzards, Grits and Greens is as about as southern as you can get MCM.

Oh yummers MCM ... look at some of these suggestions here honey >>>

    Hearts and Gizzards (Giblets)

“This is a pressure cooker recipe; chicken hearts and gizzards are lightly tossed in seasoned flour, then sauteed with onion and cooked to a tender completion. Serve with tossed green salad and mashed potatoes with sour cream, butter, a little milk, salt and pepper.”

thank you so much, lindi. It's a lot of good ideas. I 'll have to try them all. The pressure cooker recipe sounds something like my mom did in the deep well cooker. She used a pressure cooker only for canning. But, same principle, sort of . I like your idea of the sauteeing it in butter with onions. and (I added ) garlic , seasoning ,and some other goodies. The mashed potatoes with sour cream and butter sounds good ! Did you try this dish too, Lindi ?

My friend used to make a huge dinner like this and he would add cream to the giblets too ... it was so gooood! ;)

""I've got another bird in mind!

    Tweety saute' via Sylvester? ;D

    that depresses me .

My Cat's Mommy... it's got a window between 'em ... li'l Tweets is safe from Mr. Fluffysnoot there ... ;)

Well, I guess you're right. But, when the cat goes outside, he/ she might kill birdies :-(
