I think it's ridiculous that he's made all his business and his new name so public. He wasn't the celebrity pioneer in this anyway.........Chaz Bono was . And she / he did it a lot younger.
    jhharlan

He was a celebrity first, MCM. Remember? Chaz just a blip in time and has no medals....
    Bob/PKB

This is no publicity stunt, people. NO ONE endures all Caitlin (or Chaz, Christine Jorgensen, etc.) has for the notoriety, and they need a ton of money to get everything changed.
Again, I'm speechless, this time at the idea anyone is crass enough to call this a bid for celebrity.
Out of curiosity, what do you think would have happened if Bruce Jenner had simply disappeared, a married man with a large family?
How nice for Cait to have beautiful breasts at 65. Those weren't cheap.
    mycatsmom

Chaz was on TV ,as a child, way before he was. And Chaz was in all the mags and on DWTS
    Colleen

Chaz was seen very little and only because his mother is famous. Chaz was not an Olympic champion and American hero that the people demanded much from either. Chaz had an obligation to no one so his decision was easier to make early in life than Caitlyn's was. It's sad to see so much narrow minded judgement from people who are uneducated in the matter of transgender and who have chosen to not take time to read up on transgenders and the struggles and h3ll they live through. To even think Caitlyn changed her gender as a publicity stunt is ignorance beyond words.
    Bob/PKB

In Bruce's case, his heterosexual preference may have increased his -confusion- for lack of a better word. I don't know if sexual orientation has any part in Transgender issues. As a man, Bruce was "straight". Now that he is Caitlyn, is she straight or lesbian?
    Colleen

I'm sure that is a question that will be asked of her. She'll have to answer for herself. My opinion is, since she identifies as a woman then her attraction to women would make her a lesbian.

Ducky, is that what you wear on the golf course ? Oh...and BTW...easy on those Timbits...eh?
    Ducky

Yes digger, this is my favorite golf outfit with the matching shoes. BTW, this is AFTER I stopped the timbits, okay? :(((
    digger

Those shades make you simply irresistible.

I know. The whole outfit is matchy matchy. I feel so pretty.

I agree! Amazing! I guess if your desire is to change having money helps!

    I'm speechless.

    Clonge

Notice the name, Caitlyn. A "C" and not a "K". Maybe to distance herself from the Kardashians.
    Ducky

@Clonge....She could have just called herself Mary. That would work.

Bruce was a hero of mine when I was a child. I still have the memory. A great deal of time has passed but he is still what he was in my eyes. His decision to change took a LOT of guts, more than I can imagine or possess. And time and money and serious counseling. I suppose he/she is still a hero to me and still deserved......

yes. and what a courageous soul.

This person had the money to express their intent . People like this usually don't, and end up fighting depression , anxiety, fatigue most of their lives. She loves the attention. The real test is how the body will adjust chemically and emotionally. How will the physical changes adapt? Are humans made to be put to this kind of abnormality ? I really don't know. Probably not. But my guess, for what its worth, is she will not last long physically and mentally. But she is happy ,that's all that matters now at this moment in time. A good test case.

    Bob/PKB

I don't think too many others who've made this drastic choice have been as open with the public. You're right...time will tell. I do wish Jenner the best.
    zorro

He wants to be a she , so I guess I will refer to he as a she.

Sorry Clonge.but it needs to see a doctor..remember when we used to go to the show to see the bearded lady..boy have we gone down the gurgler since then...however if it wants to be an it ,then it is it's business.i will not talk about it again,,the more you talk about it.the more life you give it.>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

    Colleen

This is far from the bearded lady and how vulgar of you to call her an it. You do not have to live in her skin and live what she's lived virtually her whole life. She is still God's creation that you have no right passing judgment on in order to call her an it. Transgenders are real people who struggle their whole lives if they do not do gender conversion. Many kill themselves because they can not identify with the gender they were born with or feel comfortable in their own skin. They see a therapist and a whole array of doctors for years before taking the steps necessary for gender conversion. Nothing is faked. The doctors and psychiatrists are not faking that this is a real issue,. You are just a retired layman with no educational expertise in this matter yet you believe you can give yourself the luxury of calling her and it. I think you need to get back in touch with God., That's my opinion as to why you can not give others the freedom to live their lives happily. She does not need to see a doctor. She has a whole list of them I'm sure. Many that she will possibly see for the rest of her life.
    mycatsmom

Well, s(he) is inbetween sexes, Colleen.
    ROMOS

Opinion is a wonderful thing Colleen, I'm sure we all have one, as does Terry, do you also wonder if god made a mistake birthing Bruce as a man?
    Colleen

    Moderator
Opinions do not have to be detrimental either, like calling a human being an it, That is completely uncalled for and comes from a level of judging, which Christians are told not to do. Nor do they need to be made out of ignorance. Terry apparently has no clue just how many doctors and psychologists transgenders have to see for years before going through gender conversion.
MCM, she is not between sexes. She is a woman in her mind. A woman is what she identifies as being. She is settled with her sex. If you cannot respect who she is, it's best to say nothing since her life has no impact on yours.
    Bob/PKB

I think Terry has expressed his feelings, which is his right. As a Christian, we try, and we often fail; being human, that happens.
I have to laugh when I read the response, as it's so easy to pull God out of the bag o' tricks when it's convenient and parade Christ to condemn a Christian.
Terry, I think your reaction is extreme and hurtful, but honest, not that Cait gives a hoot what you think.
Opinions about Christians on this site have been mocking, derisive, and vulgar since Day 1.
ROMOS is right. We all have opinions
    Colleen

    Moderator
Exactly, WE have the right to voice our opinions, WE also have to right to respond to opinions which WE all have done. I did not pull God out of a bag of tricks. I mentioned Christ. I did not condemn a Christian either. Sometimes you do go to the extremes Bob. I mentioned Christ to remind Terry what Christians so often remind others of. They are to follow Christ's teachings of being non judgmental. All religions have been discussed and attacked and torn down on this forum since day one. Don't be so selective and think it's only been Christianity, (which to make a point, was not attacked by anything I said here). So laugh away and give excuse to Terry for minimizing a person's life and her God given right to do what she will with her life.To call her an it is childish, close minded and completely out of bounds. Caitlyn is a human being, not an it.
    ROMOS

HE is not a her, neither is he an IT, he is a male human being who arrived on this planet a male and he will depart this planet as a male, you can't hide DNA no matter how many ops you care to go through, nuff said.
    Colleen

She is a female according to her own self and now according to the law. When a child is born with both sex organs and the parents decide to select one sex for the child, that child's DNA says it's both sexes. Should the parents and the child be told that for life, the child is a he/she and not one set gender?
    ROMOS

I had a tortoise as a pet when I was a kid, called him Fred after myself (middle name), anyway, he got sick one day, took him to the vet, discovered he was actually a female, renamed IT Freda, she/he was never the same after that, don't know if it was the illness or the shock of finding out it was actually a female, she died a couple of years later, very young in tortoise years, but she left this world a female just the way she entered it, being called Fred never seemed to bother her until then, I often wonder how different it would have been if I'd actually known she was a female when I received her as a wee baby.
    Colleen

    Moderator
The bird I named ROMOS turned out to be a female. She is still ROMOS. She's fine with it. She will die a female even though she has what can be presumed to be a male's name. The point? There is none. Just like there is no point to your turtle story. Your turtle did not have surgery to change her gender. Just an incorrect name for her gender.
    ROMOS

My POINT is, she was born a female and she died a female, I don't think she would have appreciated it if I'd asked the vet for a gender change just to suit her name.
    Colleen

    Moderator
And you relate this to Caitlyn the human being who made her own decision to change her gender from male to female, how? We are not talking about a simple name change here. Anyway, I'm off to bed. Will check in tomorrow if I'm not too busy.
    ROMOS

We are ALL Gods creatures as the saying goes, names mean very little, he/she no longer looks like a "Bruce" so I suppose the name change works in a human perception, but he will still leave this planet a male, no matter his feelings or his name.
    Bob/PKB

Colleen, your comments to Terry (et al) about faith, other than the one you designed for yourself, are nothing more than you using something you have rejected and bashed for 4 years and counting to criticize someone who doesn't agree with you. You said yourself you made your own religion, so be the watch dog on that. You did pull the "God card" on this to shame Terry for his opinion. I knew you'd take the bait.
    Clonge

If Romos' tortoise had a sex change, would that be a new type of "Shell Game"?
    digger

Hey Romos, Colleen has a bird named Romos and a dog called Digger. I need some time to figure this situation out. I'm sure it's all good.

There goes Bob running to the extreme again. I did not create my own religion and as for bashing, you would call it bashing just because I do not agree with the greatest percentage of your religion. Oh well, my opinions, your idea of bashing. Tired of your dance Bob. Won't dance with you, you're just not my type. I did not pull the God card. I mentioned Jesus, not God.

@ Roy, She will leave this planet as a non gendered soul. Gender only applies to body of the physical world. It does not apply to soul.

    ROMOS

And his body is male Colleen, he will leave this planet as a male, just the same way he entered it, I wasn't talking about "souls".
BTW, Freda was a tortoise, not a turtle.
    Colleen

    Moderator
She does not take her body with her. Nor will you. She will leave this planet as Soul minus the body, the same way she entered it. I'm sure Feda is not offended that I called her a turtle. I hope you can get over the offense of my mistake. :)
    Bob/PKB

Yeah, you did, colleen. You brought up God and you made up a "religion" with your rules. Read back when you couldn't ride Randy hard enough abut faith. I remember thinking a lot of people think faith is a buffet and you just pick out what you want. That's what colleen has done.
And Caitlyn will appear as a woman unless you undress her or test her DNA. She has more important concerns than what Terry thinks.
Not everyone endorses, accepts, or morally agrees with transgenderism.
    Or you. Wallflower that.
    ROMOS

Sometimes I wonder if I'm making myself understood enough, sometimes I wonder if others don't just plain understand me, sometimes I wonder if others don't just plain read what I've said, and most important of ALL, I sometimes wonder if others actually know and remember what THEY have said, as I've stated on this forum before now "proofreading is a wonderful thing", as is spelling (whether you have the time to check what you say or not)as is checking back on the actual thread that you are commenting on.
    Just saying!

Bob, I did not make up a religion. Why do you post lies just because you do not like a person? Are you that insecure? Just like I'm not an admin or owner of akaQA as you keep insisting. I just now reread my post, yes I did say God here. I was thinking of another post where I had mentioned Jesus to a Christian who went all nasty aobut Caitlyn. I read a lot of crappy comments from all the good little Christians. Terry's was just one more. As for Randy, he did his own religious rough riding all over this forum. To the point that even a Christian here had to call him out for what he was. akaQa was fast becoming a Christian stomping ground where the preaching and sermonizing was getting out of hand. The admin were well aware of what was going on and gave me carte blanche to stop him and others. If that offends you, you are free to leave at anytime.
As for Caitlyn, it doesn't matter what you or any other person thinks. She is a woman in mind and spirit and even body. She is happy and no one has the right to try and take that happiness from her. As miserable as they are, they do not have the right. Only miserable people try to keep others from bring happy by arguing against what makes that person happy, even if that person's way of being happy does not affect them one iota. Just being negative to be negative about someone else's happiness is sad and childish.
    Colleen

    Moderator
Sometimes it's not worth listening to a person who argues just to be negative about another person's happiness. I stopped reading much of what you said Roy. You cannot give Caitlyn a break and just accept that she made a change that makes her happy? That completes her existence? You just have to sit there all pious and claim no matter what, she is still a man? Why? Does it give you great satisfaction in your life to just be negative about another's happiness? Does it hurt you so much to call her what she identifies with and has spend many years and put much thought and money into becoming? I'm sorry if it is painful to you. Done with the silliness on this thread. Sad to see so many closed minds here.
    ROMOS

Pious is as pious does Colleen, I am neither pious nor judgemental, the current "Caitlyn" can be what he or she thinks, but in HUMAN terms it is MALE, in this context I say IT not in a derogatory term but as an expression of exasperation at the term "she" as you use to describe him, he is not a she, only in HIS mind is he a she, he will STILL leave this mortal coil as a MALE, no matter what you, I, or anyone else cares to believe.

And....the bottom line is that some people return here, only occasionally now, just to argue and be right...right...right!!! Everyone else is wrong...wrong...wrong!!! Same old...same old...same old.
    Bob/PKB

colleen, name the faith you follow; if it is a recognized religion, I'll never comment on your rantings again.
In the meantime, I'm not a liar. YOU MADE UP YOUR OWN BELIEF SYSTEM-akaRELIGION, one in which there is no such thing as sin.
You are not someone whose admonishments about Christian behavior are taken seriously, as your understanding of this faith is spotty at best. How incredibly ugly of you to harass people for their faith.

Just what on earth did Kim Kartrashian do to this poor guy ?

I think you may be too old.
    Bob/PKB

Age doesn't matter. Digger, put on the pads, jersey, and helmet, grab your flat football. If, in your own mind and your own self, you believe you are the QB for the Patriots, that's who you are. How you'll get playing time and paid the big bucks will require more than fantasy, however.

Bob, I'm not the one who suggested that it was as easy as trying on a dress. Evidently, you and I agree that it isn't.

Oh digger, you know that you're the one who always starts the trouble! :)
    Bob/PKB

Thank you for leaving religion out of your comments to me. I hope we are on a somewhat mutually respectful footing...

The gender identity issue raises no questions in my mind. Whatever feels right...If you could change your apparent form by just choosing....would be nice,...but while you are here on this nursery world, until recently, flip-flopping your sexual idenity has not been easily done. Considering the potential as a matter of pre-birth choice can and does afford a wide array of biological choices over the course of a lifetime.

    mycatsmom

That's what transitioning means, Colleen. It means going in between something in a holding pattern. It doesn't mean zipping thru it and doing it all at once. And this conversation is NOT about me, Colleen, so leave me out of it !!!!
    Colleen

    Moderator
I responded to your comment MCM. If you do not want people to respond to what you say, perhaps you should not post. She is finished with her transition. She is not going through it. She is a female and has informed the world that she is female. You can ignorantly argue the point but you are arguing with the person living in the skin that you are not in. Who are you to decide where she is at? You posted your comment to the wrong spot by the way.
    FISH-O

None of us are born perfect M-Cat. That is what life is about... the lessons we learn and how we deal with them as our imperfect selves. If a person is not born with the body parts they were born with, that is the journey that was provided and one has to go from there.

I think his adult children will go thru a period of grieving ,b/c they lost their dad. Now, they have 2 moms and no dad. They'll never have their dad back again.

Her adult children have been very open and vocal about her decision. Try reading their words sometime. They are fine with her decision and back her totally.
    Bob/PKB

I agree with you, mcm. I can't imagine what feelings they are holding in order to support their dad. I don't think they all embrace the change as much as they appear. It will take time.
