Hech best thing to do is call a Toe truck...no kidding why not see a doctor the would know best ..good luck and don't wait !

It's a classic case of gout. Fortunately , it usually gets better by itself.  It's caused by a build-up of too much uric acid in the joints. It can occur in other places besides the toe. My dad had it in his heal. Some  people get it in their shoulder.

I had a similar  condition  a few months ago Dennis,  it turned out to be an ingrowing  tow nail.  Best get you doctor  to have a look. 

sounds like gout. a form of arthritis.  you can get and eliminate by naturals means.  find a health doctor or ask your regular doctor. you don't need pharmaceuticals to get rid of gout, but somebody might try to put you on them. good luck!
