It's Guy Fawkes night here in the UK, don't suppose most of you will have heard of this celebration?  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Fawkes_Night.

In primary school we learnt that Guy Fawkes tried to blow up Parliament, in high school we learnt why he wanted to blow up Parliament, it was corrupt, nothing much has changed. :)

I love fireworks on Independence day so Guy Fawkes day reminds me of the 4th of July.

Con: It's a little to cold to set outside to watch the fireworks.

Pro: A. The fireworks are not limited to being set off  outside of city limits.

            B.  There are no regulations to the size.

I can look outside of the windows or set on the Veranda and see spectacular firework displays all over the place.

I have heard of Guy Fawkes Day but of course, since it has nothing to do with me, I've paid little attention. I can only hope that this is not celebrated in Scotland with alcohol. Could THAT possibly be? In any case, have fun.     :)

Not with alcohol. Bonfires, fireworks, burnt sausages and blackened potatoes.

When i was a little boy i was told we should not celebrated him,

Things change! Probably his revolutionary actions weren't approved of at the time!

I know nothing you are talking about. Sounds like fun though. Fireworks are always a sight to see…….

Did you click on my link Julie?

I loved Goy Fawkes day, unfortunately the fireworks were banned around 30 plus years ago, as november the fifth is the start of our summer and too many fires were started and more and more children each year were suffering with severe burns from the crackers as they were getting more and more powerful, i do miss the burning of the guy sounds a bit barbaric, it was good fun.:)

Yep, the fires are limited to organised displays only here, but the fireworks aren't, and they get bigger and bigger every year, you've got to be 21 to buy them but the kids still get hold of them, I don't know where they get the money, those fireworks are bloody pricey. :)

I remember going to the shop with 2 shillings and getting an A4 size bag full of bangers, the threepenny bomb was my favourite, it could blow up a letterbox easily, or have a badly mutilated hand, the kids of today miss out on a lot of things.

Some of the fireworks nowadays are the professional kind & cost £30+, good though, for about 20 seconds :(

they were good days bullet..good days

Yep Romos, remember it very well, long time ago though,,they banned it here, don't know why though,,i used to make a gun with a penny bunger, could fire a marble or ball bearing a hell of a long way,,they were great for blowing up peoples letter boxes,,and jumping jacks were great,,3 or 4 different explosions in 3 or 4 different places,,yeah i know,,i am probably part of the reason they banned Guy Fawkes night..misspent youth mate misspent youth..but damn it was great..>>><<<

I used to like that song Ted ,Let the hearts achs begin,
