    Where is Colleen ?

Is she ill again, or did she quit akaQA; or was it suggested that she take a long hiatus from akaQA ?

AGAIN MCM....Your continuing curiosity re: your friend Colleen is to be addressed to ADMINISTRATION using "CONTACT" at the bottom of the page. Is there some reason why you keep asking the members where she is? Scroll to the bottom of the page to find "Contact" and while you're there, ask about the dozens of other members who are no longer here. Thank you!

    And dozens!

I miss so many of our (formerly) regular members. :(

No kidding. I’m seeing their names whenever someone post an old question and find I’m physically missing them. It hurts. May as well say Im missing this site, too. Alas!

I find myself giving TU's to some who have not been around, in hopes that they may still see notifications and come back.

Duck, Thank you for your non-answer.
    jhharlan

It was a good answer though, MCM. Save such questions for the admin. Don’t ask us, the members, questions we couldn’t possibly know. The admin WILL get back to you…...

    @Julie....Thank you.
@mcm....Please explain to me why you think I gave you, as you put it, a "non-answer". Since this is not the first time I've told you that you need to address your question about Colleen, to the administration, I assume you just don't understand what I have written? Is it so difficult to understand "Use Contact at the bottom of the page and ask administration"? Tell me how I can make that any clearer? With all of your fretting over Colleen's whereabouts, I hope you follow my instructions soon! And please don't ask the same question again on the forum, as the next time, it will simply be deleted!

    "She's gone to Queensland drovin',

And we don't know where she are".

That's just a taste of Aussie culture for you Ducky.
A line from Clancey of the overflow by our beloved bush poet Banjo Patterson. Like it??

I had written him a letter which I had, for want of better
Knowledge, sent to where I met him down the Lachlan, years ago,
He was shearing when I knew him, so I sent the letter to him,
Just "on spec", addressed as follows: "Clancy, of The Overflow".

And an answer came directed in a writing unexpected,
(And I think the same was written in a thumbnail dipped in tar)
'Twas his shearing mate who wrote it, and verbatim I will quote it:
"Clancy's gone to Queensland droving, and we don't know where he are."

In my wild erratic fancy visions come to me of Clancy
    Gone a-droving "down the Cooper" where the western drovers go;
As the stock are slowly stringing, Clancy rides behind them singing,
For the drover's life has pleasures that the townsfolk never know.

And the bush hath friends to meet him, and their kindly voices greet him
In the murmur of the breezes and the river on its bars,
And he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended,
And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars.

I am sitting in my dingy little office, where a stingy
Ray of sunlight struggles feebly down between the houses tall,
And the foetid air and gritty of the dusty, dirty city
Through the open window floating, spreads its foulness over all.

And in place of lowing cattle, I can hear the fiendish rattle
Of the tramways and the buses making hurry down the street,
And the language uninviting of the gutter children fighting,
Comes fitfully and faintly through the ceaseless tramp of feet.

And the hurrying people daunt me, and their pallid faces haunt me
As they shoulder one another in their rush and nervous haste,
With their eager eyes and greedy, and their stunted forms and weedy,
For townsfolk have no time to grow, they have no time to waste.

And I somehow fancy that I'd like to change with Clancy,
Like to take a turn at droving where the seasons come and go,
While he faced the round eternal of the cashbook and the journal -
But I doubt he'd suit the office, Clancy, of "The Overflow".

    Answered in "Comment Section".....again!

About once a week, I look to see if certain members are active, her being one of them. Her answers are sporadic at best.

I DID write to the administration, asking about the status of our moderators, and haven't heard a word back from them.  It's been well over a week.

As someone who was often at odds with her, while I hope she is well, there are many other members whose absence feels more of a loss.

I wish I had some answers but as you are no doubt aware, I never hear anything from the administration (voluntarily) whether good, bad or indifferent....never a heads up about changes, nothing about rules, not a word about why such nastiness had been allowed all over the forum and certainly never a word of thanks. I've worked with lots of people over the years, both volunteer and paid and I've never seen an organization which operated in such a "unique" style as akaQA. I also miss some of our beloved members who are no longer around. :(

My suspicions about "admin" were confirmed when their responses were actually "signed" by Colleen.
    itsmee

I have always thought Colleen was "the administration"
mcm, I don't blame you for asking the members about Colleen's whereabouts. One may even be a good friend to her.

This might be redundant but I also would like to know but I'm not going to contact administration since I read they don't even respond to moderators. I believe they are a conglomerate of many cash collecting advertising cows on the web and probably only work on the architecture of the sites and advertising contracts, not the members, that is left to the mods.  Just a guess. But I have seen this before.

What I commented (to Bob/PKB) is...."I never HEAR anything from the administration VOLUNTARILY....". I believe that I should be given a heads up re: (for example) changing the format of the forum, changing the rules, etc. That is not forthcoming to ME and I can only speak for THIS moderator. Perhaps the other two are kept in the loop. More than likely, you are correct in your summation. The forum is really irrelevant to "them". They sell advertising....period. If the current trend continues, there will soon be no one here to read their advertising! I wonder what will happen to their forum then?
    Vinny

Understood Ducky, Since I have been here, I've seen several format changes, each time IMO it gets worse for users (members) and we are forced to view more and more ads. I try to keep my cookies cleaned out because I don't know how many of these automatically attach themselves to your cookie jar. I have slacked off from posting here because it seems to be more difficult to navigate with each change installed. Too bad because I like it here and the regulars are great but I have found myself drifting away.

Vinny, sounds correct to me. They are called affiliate websites.
