Sounds a good idea for all age groups. Over here (and I expect other countries have the same) the courts can send you on a driving course as well as a fine instead of imposing a driving ban.
I know someone who was sent on one, they said they were impressed, and actually learned something from it.

i think anything that will cause teens, or grown ups for that matter, to be more conscious about what they are doing while driving, i'm for it. about 40,000 deaths a year from careless drivers in the united states. i heard a traffic school instructor say to a class i had to take, that "they should not be called accidents." Reasons: because people do stupid things on the road because they are not thinking nor paying attention.
