    Because.

I guess for the same reason that good things happen to bad people? Ever known a person who was "less than wonderful" and yet seemingly has everything including tons of money?

My Ex husband comes to mind too.

Because all of life and the universe is mathematical. The reason that bad things happen to good people is because in the hard world of math they are a statistic and nothing more. While good is something to aspire to it is off set by the factors of evil. It all boils down to probabilities and odds.

The best way to know something is to experience its opposite.  A good person doesn't know his life is good if he never experiences some difficulty or hardship. One learns to appreciate the good times and develop compassion for others.

Some of the bad luck that falls on good people is something that they bring on themselves.
