Is it plugged in and turned on? Make sure it's set to work online. Click the start button > Control Panel > Devices and Printers > double left click on the printer to open it's control panel to make sure it's set for working online (will need a connection to your computer if you are trying to print something off the computer, either by usb cable or wireless if this is an available feature of the printer).
