Not a clue Dougal, must be a long time ago because the rank of Major General was used in the Crimea.
I Have a set of original war books ted ,Called with the flag to Petoriar,would they be worth anything Ted?
Thanks Ted,i had volumes 1to 4,in quite good codition,i lent volume i to a mate who never gave it to me back,i expcect he sold it,if i can sell the others it might go towards Williams vets bills,
