    Why in the british Army is the rank of major general lower then that of lieutenant general,when the rank of major is higher then that of lieutenant,?

    Because the name derives from the rank "Sergeant Major General"in older British army ranks.

    Thanks Ted,i had volumes 1to 4,in quite good codition,i lent volume i to a mate who never gave it to me back,i expcect he sold it,if i can sell the others it might go towards Williams vets bills,
