A zoo in Copenhagen killed a young giraffe, because it was surplus to requirements

Then they dissected it in front of some children, then fed it to the lions. Then this morning we hear that a safari park here in England killed some lions because they were fighting with each other too much. Can you believe it, what are they thinking of.

I was watching it on breakfast television this morning, and someone from the Born Free organization was on, and as he said lions can easily be given contraception treatment, so there is no need for this to happen.

This is SICK, why couldn't they have given it to another zoo.

Yes they had the opportunity to send him to a safari park here, but they turned it down . I have just been listening to some comments on the radio, some people are saying it's natural for animals to be killed and eaten by other animals, well yes it is in the wild, but this was cold blooded murder of an innocent animal as far as I'm concerned. Totally unnecessary.

The purpose of zoos and the like is surely to conserve wildlife, this behaviour just doesn't make sense.

I cannot believe this, as there is so much money of value, here they sell them to other zoos, or trade for other animals that they lack.  Must be more to story, maybe they were inbred, diseased, etc.  But why dissect and feed in daytime center stage, that stuff can happen, if needed in private, out of eyes of public.  Maybe pressure should demand new management of this facility!

What a waste and example of mismanagement…….

    Yes totally Julie.

I thought Zoos were better than that. It is bad enough that these animals are held in captivity and are deprived of their natural habitat. Just abusive and downright cruel.

There must be something really wrong at that zoo! Maybe this publicity will bring well needed changes! Surely animal rights groups will step in screaming!
