MCM This is about a thousand times better than the places most of them come from.

I live in Austin, Texas and in my neighborhood we are all white except for a token Mexican. Even where I grocery shop is all white. Never thought about it before, shows me a lot of thoughts…….

I would have thought there would be lots of Latinos there.

There are people of many ethnic groups and races in my "neighborhood"....Hispanic, African American, Japanese, Caucasian, but not many from SE Asia or India.  In my condo complex, there are only Caucasian old people, because the Japanese couple has moved to southern California.  There are some Armenian people here (myself included).

It's interesting that you are Armenian. There are 2 Armenian churches within 1.5 miles of my house although I don't know how large their congregations are. One has an elementary school. We share a somewhat common heritage. The Turks, of course tried to annihilate the Armenians and the Germans tried to do the same to the Jews. Every year, we have a Holocaust Remembrance Day that is rotated yearly between the 3 synagogues in my area. I thought it would be great to have a joint commemeration with the Armenian community. Are you aware of any such occurrence in CA? Lastly, there is an Armenian guy, about 70, who went to my old gym, and his father was the youngest of 15 kids. Sadly, he was the only one to have survived the Turks.

My grandparents immigrated through Canada a few years before the Armenian genocide began (1915-1918). There are some commemorations, but nothing with the Jewish community. As far as I know, the US hasn't acknowledged the Turks ever laid a hand on the Armenians...don't want to offend them and lose the air space over Turkey..

It is terrible to think of your friend's father being the only one of 15 to survive. My great aunt had numbers tattooed on her wrist and would NEVER talk about how they got there. A cousin visited once from Russian Armenia and was very nervous about being asked anything about her homeland.

I live in a suburb of Western Sydney. There are many different ethnic groups here. Indian people being the most prevalent.

Cool! Ever have "Funnel Web Spider Curry"?

We've got the whole enchilada here........a lot of people with eastern europeon ecstraction;Armenian / Americans ; Irish and Scottish Americans.;hispanics, native Amercians.,Asians, African Americans, lots of people who are decendents of transplanted Appalacians ( Henry Ford brought them up here during W W I I   to work in the bomber plants. After the war, they stayed to make good money in the auto plants ) ; In a town S.W. of Detroit, called Dearborn Mich,, there is the biggest concentration of Arabs of any place in the country. They too came here to work in the steel plants and in the auto plants.  To the west of my town is a city that was farmland just 20 years ago. ......Canton,Mich.  Canton has lots of Asian/Indians , Arabs,Asians, and other brown skinned peoples.

    Well, you asked for it.

In response to your question, I live in Queens, NY, which is one of the 5 boroughs that comprise the city of New York. Queens is the most ethnically diverse urban area in the world[1] with a population of over 2.2 million, 48% of whom are foreign-born,representing over 100 different nations and speaking over 138 different languages. http://www.ask.com/wiki/Queens?o=2800&qsrc=999&ad=doubleDown&an=apn&ap=ask.com
