    Pump the treadle faster, no, still faster..... (Old timers were also "multi-taskers" they exercised as they sewed clothes!)

      You may need to clean it and oil it. Lots of lint from the material can jam up the inner workings of the machine causing it to run slowly. If this is the cause, then clean and oil it soon before you burn out the motor.
