There are number of causes of ch. constipation . Starting from from simple to pathological causes :-

1. Diet factor :- Lack of fibres in the diet or pure non vegetarian or consuming very small amount of liquids, lead to constipation.

2. Drug addiction - Those persons who are addicted to Opium or Opium derivative . Those persons who are using purgatives routinely to relieve the constipation . In such cases , gut gets addicted for these drugs

3. A persons might be suffering from Ch. ailments like Diabetes mellitus , Abdominal tuberculosis , malignancy of gut etc

4 In children , one must be be careful , ch constipation is due to improper training of child , Ch Fissure in Ano and congenital Hirschsprung Disease

So, one must be careful , Ch constipation may be because of simple reasons to severe one . One must consult the Doctor.
