Staying in for Hogmanay this year, too cold to venture out, I'll watch all the revelry on TV, if no one pops round we'll have a "few" drinks, then off to bed.

country bumpkin: They'll be in the cold case where the vegetables live. Ask the vegetable man. They are kind of hard to find.
"BLACK EYED PEAS WILL RE-BOOT THE UTERUS"
(I'll also be sure not to eat any.) LOL!!!
We have a bottle of champagne in the fridge but I doubt we’ll stay up. I’ve bought blackeyed peas for New Year’s Day and cabbage for luck and money. I enhance the cabbage by placing a dime in it……….

itsmee jhharlan: At last I have found the mystery salad. It sounds interesting. I'm more of a cabbage and vinegar type of girl but I may give it a try.
Here's a super dressing for salad: Mix some virgin olive oil (The expensive kind), add Balsamic vinegar and then some Dijon mustard. Just make it to the consistency of salad dressing. This isn't for cabbage necessarily. Just file it under "G" for Green or "S" for Salad or "D" for dressing.

Place cabbage in a greased 2 qt. casserole, set aside. In a saucepan heat oil over medium heat. Stir in flour, salt and pepper.cook until bubbly. Gradually stir in milk, stir until thickened. Fold in cheese.. Pour over cabbage. Combine bread crumbs and butter, sprinkle on top. Bake, uncovered at 350 F. 20-30 minutes or until bubbly. Serve immediately. Yields 4-6 servings....

Yes. I will be going out with some friends to hear a local band. It is not a drinking night for me but the same as any other night out, just running into many more people than I normally would. I'll have my usual glass of wine and do a lot of chatting (hard to believe, I know). Then home, sleep a little later than usual ('cause I'll be out too late for an oldster) and then, start another year! :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! May the year 2014 be great for you.

Staying in. I do not want to be on the road with drunks. New Year's Eve is a drinking night. New Year's day is either recovering from a massive hangover or more drinking. I do not drink so there's little to do as far as celebrating. I never make New Year resolutions either. At 11:55 New Year's Eve, I'll turn on the TV. Watch the ball drop, turn off the TV and be back here.

Heading over to a friend's for snacks, Bananagrams (a Scrabble-like game), dominoes, canasta, TV, etc. It won't be tremendously exciting, but how exciting IS Tuesday night???
