Try looking under the hood for a missing or disconnected vacum hose. Usualy you can even hear a vacume leak while the motor is running, and narrow the location of the leak/disconnect down to the area where the problem is. I had the same problem with my car just this year. The vacum hoses are usualy originating from the top,or near the top of the intake manifold...where all the air and gas enters the motor.
