If your dad hates mowing maybe you can talk him into a cow or a goat. Dogs are great for home security.If you promise to feed it & care for it they may soften up & get one for you.

My parents wouldn't let me have a cat or dog, or pet rabbit, or even a hamster or mouse. My dad said a hamster would run around then get stuck in the wall and die and stink up the house. My mom tried to tell him , but to no avail that if it died, it would just dry up and not stink. Anyway, they finally conceded to let us get a parakeet, And that was a great pet. You have to know how to finger -train it before you let it out of it's cage. Then, teach it to talk early, when it's young. The males talk better than the females.Don't get two of them b/c then they'll jabber to each other , and not learn to talk.
