Which browser do you use? What do you mean by the clear search history is barred? Is the option grayed out? Unclickable?

I use Google Chrome and the clear search history icon has a 'no entry' sign
Uninstall and reinstall Google Chrome. You do not browse incognito do you? If you do then that means you have no history.
