A promotional code will give you a discount on a product or service being offered by various merchants. It is one method that companies use, to track the effectiveness of their marketing. The discount offered is almost irrelevant as the merchant just wants to know more about you and can tell that from the code....the area in which you live, your product preferences, how often you purchase from them, etc.
