I remember the mood rings back in the 70's, that would almost be the same..

Interpersonal Relations: CSUHumboldt, Fall, 1973. We are sitting in a circle on the floor around a "mood mat". Instructions were to take something of yours (coin, hair clip, ring, paper clip, etc) and place it on the "slice" that represented your mood. As the class discussion continued and your mood changed, you were to move your "token". It got ridiculous, with people nearly falling all over each other to move their tokens at every comment.
Suddenly a shower of coins fell upon the mat. One of the students had tossed all the change in his pocket onto the mat to shock everyone out of the frenzy.
It worked. I dated the guy for awhile, and can not remember his name, but I won't forget what he did in class!
To answer the question, no, just because of the example I just gave above.
