The anti-theft on my 2004 Cadillac CTS was activated while i was installing a stereo and turned the vehicle off with the key locked in the ignition. I followed the manual and reset the ignition attempting to turn the vehicle on and remove my keys but it did not work, it only shut the entire power down completely. I had no dash lights at all. I then reset the manual release and again nothing. When i finally did get the vehicle started it stayed on but for a very short period then the battery went

And then the battery went what? Dead? Have you tried charging it? The anti-theft automatically engages whenever a battery is disconnected. Before attempting to start a vehicle after connecting the battery again, you have to first reset the ant-theft system.
