Do you mean the fuel pump relay switch or the fuel shut off switch? Unless you have been in an accident to cause the shut off switch to activate, I doubt the shut off switch is the problem. Since the truck ran out of gas, it may take time to get fuel back into the fuel line. It can take minutes to get the truck to start again. If it still will not start and you fear the battery will die, then my next thought is the fuel filter could be clogged by junk pulled up from the bottom of the tank since you ran the gas out.
